Supposedly "Fake" Battery Systems *UPDATED*

Post by JamesH »

So I find out last week that my trolling motor batteries have given up the ghost and it's time to replace them. So I think that those Battery Systems Certificates that my partner and I won at last years "Vanity Cup" are finally going to come in handy......That is until I try to redeem them......"No Good!" says Battery Systems, "Those are photocopies with a fake signature!"

WHAT???????

Well they are photo copies but they do have a "wet" signature of one "Charles Evans" in blue ink pen on both certificates and they were handed out at the awards ceremony to a few teams who were just out of the money! What a scam!

I guess it's up to me to figure out who the perpetrators of this scam are! Did Battery Systems employee "Charles Evans" give these certificates to "The Vanity Cup"? Did "The Vanity Cup" create these copies and forge "Charles Evans" signature? Is Battery Systems REFUSING TO HONOR these certificates because "Charles Evans" is no longer employed by them?

Fact #1 -We paid money to enter the 2007 Vanity Cup tournament
Fact #2 -We were given two certificates, each good for a free battery from Battery Systems as a prize for our placement in the tournament.
Fact #3 - They have no expiration date.
Fact #4 - Battery Systems is refusing to redeem those certificates.

Has anyone else redeemed the certificates that they received from that tournament? I would really like to know.

James,

Sorry to hear about your situation. Have you contacted Vince Harris the TD for Vanity Cup?

My team partner knows Vince and has contacted him. As of right now, no one has been able to get me any resolution and we have been working on this for a week. So today I am forking out the cash for 3 batteries so I can fish tomorrow.

Hitman,
Thanks for the pm, let Chris know that I am trying to get in touch with him. I think he is already aware of the situation but I haven't spoken with him personally.

I would like to take the time to thank Mike VanWagner of Capital City Marine for his efforts in helping me with this issue. He has gone out of his way contacting people on my behalf trying to get someone to step up to the plate and do the right thing.
This is just another example of Capital City Marine going the extra mile for a customer.
Thank you.

Battery Systems is a good company. I had some Dual Pro's fail right before the US Open. I called Battery Systems, the distributor for Dual Pro's and was fixed right up. Talk with Chris, he is a good guy.

James I know how this system is or was supose to work. The paper that you got from Vince was a copy of the real one that Charlie made. The signiture was and is of Charlie Evans. There certs were given out and are good to go to battery system and get a Cenntinnal Barrtery. If you are still getting the run around on this piece of paper let me know as I AM/USED TO BE sponsered by them. Chris is the main man to go to as Gary said.
Thanks Mike for helping out.
This is not BATTERYY SYSTEMS failt.THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPEN WITH CHARLIE AND BATTERY SYSTEM AND WE ARE NOW STILL SEEING THE FALLOUT OF SUCH ACTIONS. DO NOT GET DOWN ON BATTERY SYSTEMS/CENNTINNAL BATTERIES.

UPDATE........

Post by JamesH »

I just got off the phone with Chris Arregon at Battery Systems and they are going to honor the certificates.... Seems there was some confusion in house and that has been straightened out.

I want to thank everyone who helped me get this issue resolved and I also want to say that as a business owner myself, I did not take posting this problem on a public forum lightly. I had exhausted all of my options prior to posting here.

Looks like Gary, Ralph and Hitman are correct, Battery Systems is a stand up company who just earned my future business.

Battery Systems would like to thank James, Mike, Gary, Ralph, and the many others for your support and belief in our company.

I personally would like to thank you for allowing Battery Systems the opportunity to correct the issues which have come about due to this unfortunate situation. I look forward to building a stronger relationship with Anglers such as yourselves, as well as the sport fishing industry in the future.

My goal is to devote some time in the near future to develop sound business programs targeting the sport fishing industry which would benefit both you the Anglers and Battery Systems. I will keep you posted as to the progress Battery Systems is making towards achieving this goal.

Thanks Again,

tell me about it..... I am not saying anything bad about the company he works for because it isn't there fault.....

Charlie promised to sponsor my tournament circuit last year.... So I didn't go after any sponsors as I figured it was a done deal...... Then when it came time to get the sponsor money. He told me to call him back the next day as he needed a day to get a check...... He never answered me or returned any of my emails or voice mails that I left for him......

I am sure that Battery systems is great I know there batteries are....
