Beware Classified sellers

Post by Ron T. »

Its been thirty days , I've heard every excuse and promise a guy can take. I know how it is when you cant get your hands on bait fast enough so I felt for the guy and trustd him and I sent him the bait before getting paid. Its not so much about the money but principle . You tell somebody somthing you better stick to it .
If you guys sell an item on the classifieds , dont be the nice guy or you too may get F#ked !!

Well, i know you are trying to be the better man and not bash someone, but who is it? This is important to know so others dont get scammed in the future.

That sucks Ron. I have been the one buying and have sent money with trust that I would get what I bought. I have gotten lucky every time, knock on wood. But karma is a bitch and they will get theirs.

I hope it all works out for you.

I wouldn't mind knowing the losers name since I buy and sell on here too.

Well, on the topic of being stiffed as a seller on the classifieds here, in January I offered up an older fishfinder on the cheap ($20) with the idea it would help someone out.

Packed it up with all the cables, manual, and shipped it out to Dominic Doan in Santa Rosa. After many emails back and forth I gave up trying to collect (he claimed he never got it).

ALWAYS send your stuff with receipt confirmation. And I'll always require up front payment from now on. Seller beware.

That sucks getting stiffed over $20. That is a cheap price to blow up your integrity. I would have sent you the $20 just to make it right and not be made the loser.

It's our job to inform the rest of the community on here when a snake or a shady character is working the classifieds... At the first sign of hesitation in the other party, light em' up! Like Chris, I found myself being way too generous to an individual a long while back, then taken advantage of. Once was enough for me. I always request a confirmation of delivery at the post office and I request cashiers checks to be sent to me before any product leaves my hands. Makes it quick and painless...

Open a Paypal account. The buyer doesn't even have to have an account. It's connected right to your checking account, so you send the guy a request for payment thru Paypal, he gives a credit card number and the cash goes straight into your checking account.
I did it and it's simpler than I thought.

The buyer made good on the promise today . Not convinced he meant to bone out on the deal but he dident do what he promised either.
I dident charge him shipping but I ended up paying for the fees to transfer the funds threw Pay Pal. I'll take what I can at this point and be happy . Get your $$ up front guys !
I do not want to state the buyers name as that would not accomplish anything . Just get your money up front .

Hey Guys,

Well you know how you can get about your boat and adding little things here and there to make her your own, well I was looking for a back seat for my Ranger, the one on my boat is not the original so I wanted a actual Ranger seat that matched the color of my boat, after about 6 months of looking for the right color and the right price someone posted one here on the Classified, "WE AGEED ON A PRICE" and a pick up date 3 days from the day we agreed on the price, talk was on Tuesday pick up on Friday, I emailed the guy on Thurs and said hey I am leaving early for my trip can I come a few hrs early, he said "Oh I sold it for more" This guy fish's tourney's on a regular basis, I told him anyone that does not keep his word has to cheat on tourney's and I hope I never have to fish against him, I was like a kid who's Mom said you are getting X-mas gifts and than didn't :(

OK some good news, I recently traded a full Shimano $300.00 jig set up for a $300.00 Powell Swimbait rod with Shimano reel set up, the guy was at the location on time and the set up was awesome, I looked at it very closely before the trade, 2nd time out with the Powell 7.5 lb on a bluegill swimbait :)

You win some you loose some but play it smart !

That reminds me of another story: One of my buddies was looking for a boat. We went to look at one, loved it, the price was right. Buddy was ready to give him money on the spot and take it home right there, but the guy said "I won't sell it to ya til we take a test ride in it". We said, Ok, we'll be back tomorrow at 5:00 to ride in it and buy it. Called the guy the next day for the test ride, and he says "oh, I already sold it".
That was just low, we were so pissed.

This is just very, very odd behavior.
