It was a private plant of Nebraska tail walkers. Most fish were 1 to 2 pounds and some of the load were trophy fish from 5 to 12 pounds.

Hmmmm....I wonder if private stocks could be put into lower Castaic? It would seem that the crap about trout getting out of lakes and downstream and mingling with steelhead should apply to both state and private stockings....?

And that trout plant, basically a "tourist trout" plant (most too big for bass food), only cost $60,000. Add that to the new $100,000+ barbed wire fence in the Wadleigh Arm and you know where your money is going. Oh, and the general consensus amongst the people involved is, the lake will NEVER be at full pool again. The requirement to send water to the river to support the non-existent steelhead and the inability to release water from the lake means all the wonderful rain we get or may get runs to the ocean.
May Casitas RIP.

This was a nice plant and Adman, i don't know if you remember or not but i am GLAD they stoked an abundance of 3-5lbers because those limit the bass in our lake that were 26-28 inches and weighing 9lbs a chance to eat them and not the small 4-6lbers. When casitas was flourishing, people need to realize that 2-4lbers were being stoked as much as the DFG trout. I would WATCH those 10-16lbers with 2-3 trout in their mouths that were 2-3lbs. pretty insane to watch.

There will be 1 more plant this year and that's it for the lake. December around Christmas time is the last plant this lake will receive. Should be about the same size plant as well.

Get them while you can...but Casitas with time will sustain itself, won't ever be the same lake like before, but in time will all figure itself out.

Lord knows Elf you've got a whole lot more time on that pond than I do, so if you say that plant will do some good...great. I hope we have enough big fish in there to take advantage of them. The water diversion thing still has me worried.

Sounds like you lost you partner to Cachuma! But at least he did well.

See you on the lake. Trout or no, water, as long as it lasts.
