You guys missed a fun day. Bite was not great, but it was fun. Lots of food and laughs after the fishing. We even had a new award this year.
Fishing should be fun.
Re: Well, it is off to
All I can say is that a great time was had, the food was better then the fishing as always, and flipit's the new TopNut. Congratualtions, Sean!!! And, yes, it seemed a lock, I got the NumbNut. Missed the BigNut by .15 but got the golden goosesh!t award anyway!
For what, I'm still not sure.
sTony
PS - I think I'm still the current OddNut also because no one weighed in a another species that I know of and I got the award the last time out. So there!

Thanks Tony,
I just missed Bignut as well. Food was great, and lots of it. It was cool to finally put some faces to screen names. You won (I believe) for fishing under a Umbrella all day. I had to listen to Tims drunkeness all the way home. Thanks for the hospitality from Tuna and wife.
We discussed a bit about the Northern Winter Nutcase to be announced soon. But it looks like Bullards Bar.

Re: Well, it is off to
I wasn't under it all day... Just when it made perfect sense to be under one. While you guys all got soaked in that down pour and 20 mph wind, I ducked under the bimini-top that came with the boat I was backseating from, lit up a black and mild and threw out a carolina rig and dragged it around for a bit until it was 'less wet'.flipit wrote: You won (I believe) for fishing under a Umbrella all day.
Yesterday sure felt like a Winter Nutcase, but I'll be a BB if that's where it's at next.flipit wrote:We discussed a bit about the Northern Winter Nutcase to be announced soon. But it looks like Bullards Bar.

I had an great time yesterday meeting all of you and I enjoyed fishing with a friend I met here on WB many years ago and have never fished with.
It also was nice to give ole Cooch a wake-up call too
Whoever made the call to fish one session should be applauded, that was an EXCELLENT change given the conditions.
The weights were on the downside but I think just about everyone caught a fish or two.

PS As I recall sTony and his partner were late to the weigh-in (significantly) and so far no penalty has been assessed - the group should decide what if any penalties are required to ameliorate the situation.

Yeah, they counted that against me too, but I'll point out that I wasn't the boater and I did advise my boater, several times, that the weigh in was at 1:00 and he insisted it was at 1:30.
Still, I got the blame for being late... go figure!

I'm already thinking of a Spring houseboat trip with the fam. You guys are really spoiled up there. Team Victorville had a great time. Special thanks to Obi for putting a roof over our head and for all that contributed to the full on buffet. Hope we get to see some of you boys at the SoCal winter nutcase..

I was also driving so I had one shot and got stuffed on food. There was a ton of food to eat thats for sure. My tri tip was gone about as fast as I could cut it. He is alot of fun, and extremely social. He was insisting he left his phone there, even though I saw him with it while driving. Once we got a signal I called his phone, it was right next to him on the seat.
Fishing should be fun.

Topnut was 7+
Bignut was 3-13
Sorry I don't recall the nut's names, someone else can chime in with that.
We fished one session from 7:30 - 1PM with each angler allowed to weigh-in 3 fish.

I got top nut. I think it was Obi who got Big Nut. Odd nut Im not sure was awarded, if so it went to the catcher of a hat. STony won the notorious Numb Nut or whatever it is called. Macinc got a new award, the "lame nut" for leaving his plug out of the boat when he launched.
Fishing was pretty tough as I believe only Obi and I had a limit, but I think everyone has a fish.

I caught the NASCAR straw hat spooning in 30' of water.
It was actually in good shape too, I think G-Man may have brought it home as he is HUGE NASCAR fan
Also I caught a single fish on the drop shot - a decent largie that weighed in at 3-05.
G-man also brought in a limit and he culled one time. I believe he weighed in 5-04.

Re: Well, it is off to
All Nutcase events needs to have a story line to base future event off of and to let others know the reason for this events - fabrication!
It was tremendous outing and lots of fun for all. In fact I was so looking forward to it I could not even sleep the night before (I have not done that in a long time). I was going to fish with the Cooch. When the clock when off at 3:45 AM I was up and out of the house by 4:25 AM. I got at Pleasure Cove Marina gate at 6:30 AM and gladly paid my $26.25 to get in, making a grand total of $32.25 I have laid out ($6 for the toll) and I have not even put my line into the water yet. I arrived and had to wait for 30 minutes to get in. When we finely got to the launch there was a slight rain and the wind was not that bad. We had more boaters then back seats so a few of us were going alone.
We all help each other launch our boats and park the trailer in the parking lot – “agvangler” had a little of a hard time backing up the trailer and almost jack knives it, first nomination for Numb-Nuts. It was deiced to only have one session and to be back in by 1:00 PM and everyone was passing the word around like good Nutcases – I must have gotten the word “TO BE BACK IN BY 1:00 PM” at least 5 times.
Most of the boats were in the water and we were all getting ready to blast off when “macinkirk” was loading his boat back on the trailer and I remembered “tunaman” saying, don’t worry Ranger don’t sink. Second Numb-Nuts nomination!
We all formed and blasted off in a well organized gaggle , we were Nutcases. It looked like we had about 11 boats in all with at least 4 without back seats (I was one of them – Cooch was still in a warm bed). As I hit the 5 mile hour marker I look over at “StockOption” and the “G-Man” in their brand new Ranger and hit the gas to go on plain (I was wounding who made the live well check?) – it was about 5 minutes later “StockOption” pass me and “G-Man” was waving like a girl on her first boat ride. “StockOption” was still babying his new boat or maybe he does not drive it very fast yet?
I believe the “G-man” or "Obi-Hub" had big fish? It was a little confusing at the weigh-in because our TD Gary "Obi-Hub" Collins had no equipment or writing device to do the weigh-in and to list who got what – who has the scales? I mean we were all to be in at 1:00 pm, who was missing? "Obi-Hub" made a fast headcount and it was “sToney” and Steve his partner that were missing. "Obi-Hub" ask the question – did anybody tell them what time the weigh-in was going to be – at least 5 hands when up. I don’t recall whose hands went up, but 5 were raised.
The “StockOption” jumped up and said he has a hand held scale and ran to his boat. As he was running he said this scale is a lot better than the one Cooch uses. “StockOption” started by weighing his one little fish (3 lbs 5 ounces) and some other object that “G-man” said you can’t weigh-in no hat! Then “StockOption” weighed in the G-man 3 fish limit (the first limit of the event). It was 5 lbs 4 ounces and G-man was jumping around like a girl that just took her first boat ride. They dump the fish back and about a gallon of water followed the fish into the lake.
They started weighing in the rest of the fish starting with "Obi-Hub" who had a 3 fish limit and when about the same as “G-man” but with half the water. Next came me with a two fish just short one of the limit. The funny thing was someone asked for a dry weigh bag and I only got 4 lbs 10 ounces for my two without the water. I noticed that they pass up the “tunaman” up so I asked him, are you not going to weigh-in? He said he dumped his dink, then he hung his head down.
Then it was “flipit” turn, who said he had three small keepers. Someone said wet his bag and he weighed in 7 lbs plus of which two lbs was water. There was our Big Nut for the event.
With the weigh-in done we recovered our boat and when to eat and tell stories of the day each of us had. The first topic was who was going to be the Numb-Nuts? My pick was “macinkirk” for not putting in the plug in his boat. But there was a strong opinion about not having the correct types of scale for our weigh-in. There was not a big deal about the jack knives trailer of “agvangler”. After all he was so over dressed for the rain and all of his windows were fog up and anyone of us could have done the same thing – not!
The “tunaman” took charge and called all of us to one side to take the secret vote. Again it was between “macinkirk” and sTony for not coming in at 1:00 PM leaving us without scales to weight the fish and leaving the TD holding the wet bag. It was about 50% for each of them. Then “ASD” jumps up and said the sTony forgot his fishing bag in the truck and did not have all of his fishing gear with him. You should of heard the “wooo’s”! It was tipping about 60 – 40 for sTony. Again I stood my ground and said but we are talking about not putting in plug in a boat, this was not “macinkirk” first rodeo. Then the coop de vela came from “Terry G, when he said sTony fished under an Umbrella all day! That was it to swing the vote to 100% for sTony for Numb-Nuts. As all of the angler shook their heads, walking away saying under an umbrella – how could he. As the hands when up, I glance over to the “Wolfman” and he had one big smile on his face, I think are was saying umbrella.
With the business of the day done, we all when over to drink, eat, and tell lies!

Ahhh....Marty, Marty, Marty. Proof positive that senility robs good men of their faculties far, far too early in their lives.
Cooch was home warm and dry - at least you got that right.
You did miss a few important facts;
1) My Ranger is not new - it is an 04. And yes even though I am still learning how to drive it, my troubles getting on pad that day was due to my passenger. He is far, far heavier than he looks. I guess you can say he is very dense.
2) My ability to weigh water along with the fish is a skill - quit trying to turn a positive in to a negative. Killjoy.
3) Last but certainly not least G-Man beat you soundly - fair and sqaure. If you could have heard him laughing all the way back to the ramp...well....you would have been as freaked out as I was.
