Can you salvage a weigh bag?
Has anyone tried to repair a weigh bag that has developed holes in the bottom? Always seems to be one or both corners. Any good success? Or are they done for? It seems using one of those vacuum sealers could work.....

I tried silicone in the corners, but the plastic is too slick, and it doesn't bond well enough to hold.

Duct tape works great. Theres so many colors now you can even match it if thats important to you.

Mend-it . Try to make some sort of patch, or a kit they sell to patch rafts and air mattresses.

I too have used duct tape, worked great.

Fish Bonz - You have probably not experianced or witnessed a winning bag open up on the bottom releasing all your hard work and effort into the drink - like what happend at the 06 - Clear Lake Rally - but trust me when I say its cheaper to purchase a new bag then it is to mend one
Look at the retirement as a badge of honor - the bag has served you well and needs to be retired.

+1
Ash is right. I'd retire the bag and get a new one. I don't want to have to ever worry about that bag exploding and dropping a limit or a big fish somewhere.

Re: Can you salvage a weigh bag?
I just heard a horror story from a friend who fished a tourney at Meade. The tourney man handed him a weigh bag to use, and as he stepped from the boat to the dock the bag handle broke and dumped his limit into the lake.
Fish are hard enough to catch, why take a chance on losing them at the dock?

If the bag is in good shape and only leaks in the corners, you can just put a cheap plastic weigh bag inside it as a waterproof liner, and still have the handles of the main bag to carry it.
