Hey Swimbait it has been verified by many including fish and game as being a spot. Check the eyes to the jaw bone. It doesn't go pass the eye and the scales around the eye area, cheek, are much smaller than the scales along the length of the body. These are characteristic features of a spotted bass. Hope this helps you in the future on identifying your fish.

Fish and game wrote me a ticket for short calicos when they were olive rock fish (jonny bass). The claim is only as good as the warden. Looks like a LM to me. but what do i know
