Braided Line?
Anyone throw swimbaits on braided line with no leader?
Re: Braided Line?
Every chance I get...but when I'm fishing really clear water I use FC or mono leaders. I can't say for sure it makes a difference, but it's a confidence deal for me. I haven't had any recent breakage problems, but tying on leaders does add another variable in the equation that can lead to failure. If the water clarity situation is borderline I break out the Sharpies and "camo" my braid. Once again...it's really comes down to your confidence level.

Oh ok. Yea i live in SC so we dont have too much clear water here other than 2 lakes i can think of. I just didnt know how it would affect the bait's action and stuff. I was thinking 50-65# braid?
Re: Braided Line?
That's what I'm using...even going 80# on the topwater baits.

I always throw straight braid when throwing swim baits just loosen your drag just a lil to acomidate for the zero stretch.

I typically use a leader but when the sun goes down I occasionally get lazy and its straight 80 lb braid for me as well.
