wheres the bass west magazine ?
wheres the bass west magazine ?
i know mark is busy, but last i heard they were in the process of getting caught up on the magazine being SO LATE... well the last issue was march / april, and its almost july.. good job guys on ALWAYS sending a magazine that is about 4 months late... i love the magazine, but im really tired of getting it so late... this will be my last subscription.. why buy a magazine, when all the care about is the website, and the on-line magazine... hate to be negative, but this has been going on for YEARS and no one seems to care ??

Re: wheres the bass west magazine ?
I received the March/April issue. Have had an AC membership for 3 years. I think I've received 6 total issues in the past 3 years. Always late. This has been an issue, pardon the pun, for years.

Re: wheres the bass west magazine ?
Ohhhh the bi/tri monthly questions about BassWest issues. The joy! I as many signed up for a three year membership years ago. After two years of never getting any issues on time and having to call to get them sent I gave up. Never got any of my third year mags. Now I know people will get on here and say oh he is so busy, or it's worth waiting for, yadda yadda. I gave up years ago, maybe if more did something might change.

Re: wheres the bass west magazine ?
Yes, it is unfortunate. I signed up last year for one year and never even received any issues. I get them from the AC circuit I fish but I'm not going to sign up for it again. Hopefully some have had enjoyable experiences with the magazine, but I have not. Time management is something many business owners struggle with, including myself, but after many years, we ought to be able to learn from our mistakes and progress. Good luck to all involved.

Re: wheres the bass west magazine ?
Hello Everyone,
It is Russ Bassdozer here. I was handed the reins to be the next editor of BassWestUSA from Dan O'Sullivan about 7 months ago (December 2010).
First and foremost, I must thank Dan so much for taking me under his wing and teaching me the ropes on my new job as editor. Without Dan, I would have been completely lost.
For many hours of long phone calls, whether Dan was at home, in the airport between flights or at a tackle manufacturer's headquarters doing a photo shoot, Dan O coached, instructed and advised me on every aspect and facet of my new job from A to Z.
Like every past editors of BassWestUSA, Dan O left his mark on BWU, he made it better and Dan O was passionate about growing BWU and making it the best possible read for our subscribers while he was editor, and I'm sure he still feels the same way about BWU and why he has been so kind to help me so much during the transition to myself as new editor.
Still even today, I get helpful calls from Dan with suggestions and advice. He may point out a couple of things in the most recent issue that he especially liked or that could be done a little better perhaps, and he gives me great advice on what photographic equipment to be using, how to set up the camera functions and scenes for some killer shots.
Every past editor has grown BWU and left their mark on it, including Dan O, Tony Stolts, Tom Leogrande, Jon Storm and others. So I am trying my best to fill the editorial shoes handed down to me!
I don't rightly recall when I first started subscribing to BWU, but it seems like it's always been a little late. I can't say I ever tracked it, and even as the new editor, I am not involved with the delivery aspect of the publication.
The first issue I produced was Jan/Feb 2011, and I know the first delivery of that issue was out before the Bassmaster Classic in mid-February. I believe staggered mailings of that jan/feb issue were sent out throughout February, if I am not mistaken. I don't know if everyone got their Jan/Feb in February, but I do know many subscribers did because I got some emails and calls congratulating me on my first BWU issue, and that was mid to late February timeframe. I was especially proud of that issue and I will be forever grateful to Dan O for coaching and guiding me through it. I chose to put a close acquaintance of mine, Patrick Sebile on the cover kind of as a keepsake for him and for myself to commemorate my first issue.
Technically, it's true that jan/feb was my first issue as editor, yet I really feet the March/April was my first true issue since many stories that appeared in jan/feb were already pre-assigned when I was given the reins.
The March/Aril issue, if I am not mistaken, started mailing in mid-May. I really had a lot more choice in the stories and writers assigned to this issue, and I was so lucky to be able to convince some great new writers, ranging from stellar rookies like Tyler Brinks to industry giants like Don Wirth, Chris Armstrong and Ned Kehde to become new contributors. I brought Mike DelVisco on board, Randy Pringle, Doug Vahrenberg with new features and columns. If you have the March/April issue, look at my editorial in the front and I detail all the new writers, new columns and new feature series there. I also wrote some features I really enjoyed (on Derek Remitz and on Mike Bucca's Bull Shad swimbaits).
I do believe March/April was the best issue ever in BWU's long history (but I am obviously biased). Let me know what you think?
May/June has gone to the printer and it should be delivered soon is my understanding. You guys haven't seen it yet, but I feel that May/June is even better than march/Aril in terms of compelling content, pizzazz and appeal to bass anglers.
So I am trying to continue the legacy left to me by Dan O and by the past editors who each improved BassWestUSA for our subscribers. I will strive to do the same for you during my tenure as editor.
I'd say not to leave us now. BWU is better than ever, and I feel it's better than any other magazine today. I hope that what you see in the next several issues will make you feel the same about BWU too.
Bass-t Regards,

Re: wheres the bass west magazine ?
russ, if you really want to keep the customers happy, provide us a magazine that is relevent for the season were fishing.. i still dont see why you cant get the magazine to us in a timely manner ? the reads are great, but the time frame is about 3 months behind ? lets get the spring time bassin to us before spring ? not 3 months after spring has come and gone... last issue was march april, and were almost into july ? come on. i know you can guys can get it together, better that it has been for the past 6 years... i do realize what it takes to put together a magazine, not an easy task. just step up your guys game, get this LATE delivery fixed... there is absoutly no reason for you guys to be 3 months behind... even if it means missing an issue to get caught up with the current seasons.... i would like to see what's new for the following season, NOT THE ON SEASON THAT HAS JUST PASSED... maybe the next issue be should relating more to the fall bite, im looking forward to the next magazine, but may / june will be long gone before we get it !! i would not subscribe to a newspaper [ for example ] and be happy when they deliver last months news to me late.... come on guys, I KNOW YOU CAN DO BETTER, IN GETTING THE MAGAZINE TO US IN A MUCH MORE TIMELY FASHION.. OTHERWISE PLAN ON LOSING LOTS OF PAST READERS.. just my 2 cents...

Re: wheres the bass west magazine ?
in the past 3 issuies where I've been editor, I've turned down any sstories that were highly season-specific or time-sensitive - while still delivering a great read. As I say, jan/feb was kind of pre-assigned befire I came on board, but I did replace a couple stories that would have missed their timing due to the lateness. I had more liberty to assign the stories appearing in march/April and may/june, and I intentionally avoided time-senitive material that would have been too late due to late delivery.
In other words, I couldn't fix the late delivery that's been going on for years, so I arranged the content to be still fresh and useful so as not to be stale or past use by the time you got to read and make use of it - as best i could.
I'm not saying anything is fixed here - but I'm trying toi addrewss it little by little, and the magazine is better today than ever in its history in terms of content, entertainment and presentation to our valued subscribers.
So stay on board. It is a great product. I am proud to be the latest in a line of great and caring editors. It is going to get better yet. I'm sure of that.
I hope you will be more and more satisfied with every new issue to come.

It has the potential to be in the top 3 magazines in the world. I think with Russ there he might be able to straighten things out. Gotta give him a chance.
