BBT or WRL????

Post by Kevin Evans - Kap »

We still have yet to decide what circuit Mac and Myself are going to fish next year. We might start fishing em both and decide after a few one way or another. Has anyone decided what circuit they will be following next year?
Just trying to get a feel for the numbers and schedule laid out ahead of time.

the membership fee is $40 as well I believe...

both are going to offer good events and dates... one thing to keep in mind is the TOC...

WRL usually offers a boat/cert

BBT will offer $20k cash... much easier to split up, don't have to deal with selling a boat or cert...

Not sure who will step in and run the WRL regions in Randy and Kevin's place... so I can't speak of that...
but I personally feel that Randy and Sherri do a fantastic job... so my choice would be the BBT out of the two...

That's great what we pay, but what can we win is what matters. What really is the payback on WRL, BBT or even FTP ? Can't someone just lay it all out?

I have yet to see anything that specifically explains the exact on site payback for any of them so how do you really jusge them? Why don't they all just lay out the specifics for the anglers with information like:

1) On site, that day, cash payback percentage and the ratio of the payback ( ie 1:5, 1:3, etc).
2) Options and payback percentage for options.
3) Money and percentage carried forward to AOY funds, and if included in payback percentage.
4) Membership fees and what if anything you get for it.
5) Other fees like Insurance and lake fees not included in basic entry fee and payback percentage figures which are only counted as extra fees this way so as to mislead the anglers.
6) Any significant sponosr products ( such as a boat) and an explanation as to whether or not this in addition to the cash payback percentage or in lieu of cash paid back.
7) Do they charge a fee for using credit cards and do they take them ?

@ kitjack
Most of your ? are anserd in the org's RULE's.

1)the payback % are in FPT an WRL RULE's / BBT's I have not seen yet as I don't think they are posted yet

2)both FPT and WRL pay back 100% of options @ EA. event

3)It's in FPT and WRL RULE's

4)FPT ? WRL you get a mag that shows up 3 months late LOL

5)paybacks are based on $ payed as "entry fees" and do not include $ you pay for lake fee's or ins.

6)FPT and WRL have this info in their RULES

7) ?

I went to WRL site and I looked at the rules assuming that is where they must be and I don't see them. I also looked at the entry form and nothing there. Here is the link to the rules and maybe it's there but I don't see it http://www.anglerschoice.com/wrl-rules2011.htm

I have looked for clear answers to these questions and I don't see them from most organizations. I am not picking on anyone in particular but it seems like that old where's Waldo game where you need to look extra close to find what you want to see. A boat can mean a choice of boat or the reserve cash, or reserve cash can be used to buy a boat, or the boat may be extra from a sponsor and the reserve is paid out too.

When I just looked on AC/WRL I couldn't find even a single mention about the payback percentage at all much less a clear answer. I have looked at all the other sites and entry forms and it's pretty much like this at them all, except for the Pro events. And I don't know anyone who shows how many teams are in the options, but they all show all the cash paid back and the basic entry fee. So the payback looks good, but you don't know because you never know how many people are in the options.

Maybe if you know the answers you can explain them for me. What percentage of the entry fee and what percentage of the options is paid back at these events? Are they all the same or is one better than the other ?

Might wanna spend some time on the phone and talk with reps from each org directly:

For USAC/WRL its likely best to give Danny Peluso or Bill Hutcheson a call. Danny's contact info is 209-874-9525 Email dpeluso@inreach.com and Hutch's is (714) 393-5656 Email willydhutch@gmail.com .

For BBT it's Randy Pringle and his contact info is (209) 543-6260 Email fishininstructor@aol.com .

And for the FPT it would be Vince Harris and his contact info is (916) 768-0938 Email vince@futureprotour.net OR anglerspress@hotmail.com.

I'm sure they'd all give you direct answers to your questions and probably like to talk with you about any concerns you might have. At the very least, they'd all give you one heckuva sales pitch to fish with them and that might be educational and serve as a great introduction to each. They're all great guys!

BBT all the way. I have fished WRL/AC for four years and future pro two years before that. I enjoyed them all but too many issues have risen with those organizations. As for the BBT the entry fees will be exactly the same as the WRL/AC. The only difference will be a $40 membership instead of $45. Randy puts on a GREAT show and has some wonderful sponsors on board for this upcoming year. The $20,000 TOC prize is a great idea so its easy to split with your teammate with no worries about selling the boat or wondering if the certificate is even paid for yet. Here is the BBT website. http://www.bestbasstournaments.com/default.aspx
Contact info is on the website if you would like to call Randy, Kevin, or Terry with any questions. Look forward to having a great year with the BBT!

I have fished both FPT(not for me) and for the past 4yrs with Anglers Choice. AC has done a good job especially DP/motherlode, we have also fished other regions and were satisfied with their running of the tournament(s). It all comes down to scheduling and the TOC format/options. I like the idea of having "cash" available for the winners of the TOC, which BBT offers (delivery of boat and splitting the profit could be an issue, but haven't won yet). The payout will be similar for each event, not an issue. I would like to see a more competitive format to make the TOC, as it stands now both BBT and AC/WRL, if you fish 7 events you are in and if you finish in the top 25% (4 out of 6) in a region you are in. I would like to see a specific number, ie. top 20 per region ( 4of6 is fine) with maybe a wildcard per region. The TOC lake needs to be posted a lot sooner (this could sway individuals on what circuit they fish). So for now we are going to fish WRL.

I would like to suggest a fish-off between the top 5 teams from the WRL each region (30 boats) against the top 5 teams from each region in the BBT (30 boats) to compete after both circuits conclude their TOC.

BBT for me Randy & Shari do it right. I will probally have to fish a few events by my self since they are all on Saturdays. I think they will have a very high boat count at their events.

Hey Gene, what are the new ideas you speak of that Randy will bring out in the BBT, because the only difference in his format compared to the WRL is the cash payout at the TOC. On the surface everything looks the same with different faces.

WRL TOC 160 teams fished for a boat - never saw day 2 results, anyone know where I can find that?
BBT - Top 25% + anyone who fishes all 7? = everyone ( shouldn't you have to earn it?)
FPT - 90 teams fish for a Boat

Think the odds off winning a Boat in TOC is much greater
