19.7lbs of bass on one cast.....

Post by KenGolub »

I wanted to get some western opion on the a-rig.

I caught 19.7 lbs of smallmouth on one cast in New York. You can see some videos I took expaining who is did it. I'm not sure if it is legal in CA, it currently is in NY.

What are your thoughts? Personally... I think it should be banned... What about culling... If you have 5 and catch 3 more in one cast.... did you violate any tournament rules?

IF YOU USE IT... PLEASE CATCH AND RELEASE..............

With what I have seen tournament pressure do to a lake I am hoping this thing gets banned everywhere fast. I just dont see it as anything other than harmful to this sport. Sorry but thats just my 0.2, just sayin.

if you play by the state rules and the organizations allow it leave it be. Why we arguing something that isn't against the law if fished in accordance to the law?

Leave it be.... to each their own. Like everything else people harp on: bed fishing, live bait fishing, or whatever... what are you out to prove?? If someone fishes it great! if not, great!

I have thrown it and caught fish on it...interesting rig, but to me its a bit much. I caught more on other baits under the circumstances I was in. This rig has its place for sure and I can see it being a blast.

Wow 5 for 5 and you didn't have to put the trolling motor down?

I am sorry you have a hard time with others opinions and see it as arguing. The man asked for opinions and that was what was given.

Sorry Rich...this was more at all the responses... not just you. For me, I don't see what its going to do if its followed by the rules. 3 hooks is no different than a multiple fluke, dshot rigs or anything like that.

Thats what I am getting at.

People get on here to get support to STOP closures and banning certain things when it comes up because this state closes and bans ridiculous amounts of stuff. Things they close are insane...trout plants, baits, rigs, boats, motors, you name it.

Something new comes up and because it might be controversial to some they all call to ban it everywhere. Then that same person complains this state closes and regulates too much when its something they feel is OKK. Hmmmmm........ really????

So to me, asking to ban MORE things yet bitch and whine when they do seems like a double standard.

This is how I see it.

We do seem to rush to judgement, before all the facts are in.
Maybe it's a race to be the first, or the smartest, or whatever, but it does seem to be ban now, think it through later.
I get the feeling that those in power don't have much faith in the rest of us to use good judgement, unless they need us to go off and fight overseas.

I never saw anyone calling for a government ban on anything. Just to have the major circuits ban the use of halibut rigs for bass fishing.
