Just installed the Red-One on my Trolling Motor

Post by Marty »

Never again to suffer broken trolling motor rope now that I have the Red-One. The Red-One was designed by Danny Miller, yes the same guy that designed the Danny Miller punching weight and like the punching weight is a product that works. It is stainless steel cable that is coated with durable material that is used in exercise equipment. What is really nice is there is not stretch in the cable and unlocks motor bracket on one pull. It makes it a lot easier to lower and take it out of the water. Check out the photos!

nice stuff Marty. Looks like a clean install. I did something similar with 1/8th in coated steel cable and some crimps.

Curious....

Why dont you just post the contact information about the Red One TM handle here? Looks like a cool bote accessory/gizmo to have and its certainly in demand. Is this a conflict of of WB's advertising policy? Or is it something else. :?:

That is a good question Brian – I was just showing off what I put on my Motorguide and yes did not want a conflict by giving out Danny phone or the cost of the Red One. I can tell you the Motorguide system is the only one that is completely designed and the Minn Kota is waiting for a Stainless steel insert and is a little harder to install then the Motorguide.

I sent IM’s to everyone asking about the Red One – if I miss someone, sorry – just send me a IM and I will reply. If anyone else wants Danny phone number send me a IM and I will answer.

Sorry that I did not answer faster but I have to work and do some fishing - LOL

Cooch

Red One is a MUST!

Post by Cooch »

I've had one of these on my MG for almost a month now, love it. I do recommend that if you use the upgraded Stainless steel handle, install that strap on yer deck to hold it down, otherwise when running, if it bounces overboard, it will bounce off the water and bang against yer hull.

You can contact Danny at his FB location: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002388808555 or via e-mail at: danny@millerpunchinweight.com. He will take individual orders, but understand right now there could be a small wait period as he is getting his inventory up, developing retail outlets and is very busy with them right now. This new rope system is a must have and very easy to install.

I gotta agree with Cooch this is a must have unit! I have had one on my MG for a while but wanted to really try it out before I posted on it. First of all it takes less time to install the Red One than it took to undo the knot on the rope. What is does for the TM is makes it soooo much easier to "pop" the TM out of the stow position and to lift it back into the boat. (MK got the lift assist thing right!)
As far as having broke ropes I can tell you I am the King of broken ropes, one time on Shasta I was leading a Pro-Am on the last day and it was time to check in (I have priors for waiting for the last minute to weigh in) and when I went to stow the TM the rope broke landing me on my A.. Fortunately I had so much experience with broken ropes I just grabbed the plyers, popped the lock and made to check in with about 30 seconds.
Not any more...Thanks Danny!

Thanks Marty. Danny doesn't have to look too far. I guarantee that most of the 7 or 8 online stores that advertise on this site will be calling for prices and samples.

thank you Marty i ordered mine yesterday

one thing to note on the motor guide
With your trolling motor up double check to see if you have a quater sized hole in frount of the where the rope attaches this means you have a old style mount and Danny said it will not work on it

Marty I will take a picture of my old mount and text it to you tonight i cant post a picture on this site to save my life-- so PM your phone number when you get a chance (i think its still laying around in the garage)

walt kondracki

PS if you have questions Danny will awnswer them all he is a first class guy

Beautifully engineered and executed. What a difference it makes on my aching back. Without a doubt the best non-electronic, aftermarket add-on for a bass boat.
