I was really skeptical about the jika rig until I tied one on. It was a really good bass magnet! I caught some really good fish on it. Plus, they were on the bigger side of the scale. It's really pretty simple to set up. Here is a solid youtube video on how to get yourself going, and it also shows what the bait looks like in the water.
Jika Rig - Worth a shot?

It looks just like the Owner Jig Rig.

If you make your own, you can change hook sizes, and sinker sizes and shapes, to match what you need at the moment. Two different sized split rings, attached to each other, is all you need. The larger ring is for the hook and the line tie, and the smaller ring is for the weight. The rig works.
One more thing.
We all wind up with football jigs whose hooks are damaged. Cut the hook and keeper off flush with the back of the football head, and you can use it for the weight, just to give it another look.
