Gen1 & Gen2 networking

Post by Sidmcneil »

Help please...
Yesterday my gen1 hds7 fried. After many hours with tech support we decided I needed to take advantage of their "advantage program". So I now have a gen2 HDS7 touch on the way (for $450-not bad). My current setup is HDS7 gen1 on console, HDS5 gen1 on bow, and LSS-1 structurescan with both units networked. The new unit that is on the way has structurescan (HD) built in. Here is my issue... should I run the new structurescan transducer for the touch and leave the other for the gen1 on the bow? or will that even work? or should I just connect the ethernet cable from the LSS-1 box to the touch and roll on; or will that work? I need to keep both units networked for weighpoints, etc. So any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

When you get the HDS Touch unit, plug the Structure Scan transducer directly into the back of the touch unit, then run an ethernet cable from the Touch unit to the Key Pad unit and the Key Pad unit can view the Structure Scan sonar. If you have the LSS-1 you will need a converter cable from Lowrance to plug the LSS-1 into the back of the Touch unit. The LSS-2 ducer plugs directly into the back of a Touch unit. You will not need the LSS-1 box as the software to run the Structure Scan is built into the Touch units and then you can use the ethernet network to add any HDS unit to view the Structure Scan, either Touch or Key Pad.

You will be able to share Waypoints with the ethernet network.

Ken, I think you just answered the question I was just about to ask.
I have only 1 HDS 7/Gen 2 Touch. When I add another one all I need to do is link both with the eithernet cable and then both can see structure scan from single Structure scan puck.

If I'm wrong let me know, otherwise thanks for the help.
