W/Video 5 over 20 WON BASS "Casitas Nights" 7/12

Post by Rich Tauber »

With a steady dose of excellent crankbait fishing for the past 2 to 3 weeks at Lake Casitas 24 teams were all set to go for the third tournament on the 2014 WON BASS "Casitas Nights" team tournament trail. The team of John Karayan and Fred Klinshaw were not swayed by the consistent crankbait fishing and elected to utilize a variety of plastic worm techniques and fish them from 1-30 feet of water to capture victory and put together a beautiful 22.63 pound bag of bass. Riding an emotional high after winning the 2014 WON BASS "Casitas Region" Tournament of Champions in June Fred and John went to work by beginning their evening in 30 feet of water and working their way to the beach as the evening progressed. They elected to start in 30 feet of water and told a crowd of anglers at the awards ceremony they caught their final fish in as shallow as 1 to 2 feet of water. John and Fred collected $2,800.00 in cash for their victory. Two stars of the sport Brian Evans and Oscar Lopez teamed up for the first time ever on the WON BASS "Casitas Nights" tournament trail and captured a five bass limit weighing 22.16 pounds and gather $1,010.00 in cash for their evenings work. Nighttime veterans Joey Boudin and Vince Dipalma put together a five fish limit that weighed 21.51 pounds and slid into third-place and collected $820.00 in cash. As most of us are aware if you want to collect a check at Lake Casitas you better drop a 20 pound sack, the team of Dave Poolman and Ron Caulfield did just that putting together five bass that weighed 20.91 pounds and captured fourth-place and $300 in cash. The next event on the WON BASS "Casitas Nights" tournament trail is August 9, 2014. Anglers interested in fishing this event can call or text tournament director Rich Tauber at 818-439-1154. Of the teams fishing these nights literally only maybe 8 people experienced the glory days!!! I miss those days but considering it aint coming back, I was thoroughly disappointed in the night. Fridsay was a glimpse at the 30lb bags maybe coming back!
