Clear Lake this week 12/8/2014

Well, the lake will finally be at ZERO Rumsey by the end of today. Currently as of 8 am this morning it is at minus.04 Rumsey, and with the ground finally saturated these next few storms should start adding feet instead of inches, at least that is the hope.

Current water conditions have the surface temps between 50-57 degrees, and while the creeks are running with color, the majority of the lake is still in really good condition color wise. That said, the forecast this week is for heavy winds this coming Thursday and Friday, so this could finally change the really clear water down south.

As for the bite, it continues to be good for some and a bit tougher for others, while the quality of fish being caught continues to be impressive. Deep diving cranks such as the
Megabass Deep Six, Sixth Sense DD’s, Lucky Craft and Storm square bills continue to produce some solid 5 fish limits, with the help of an occasional a-rig kicker fish.

Minnow fishing continues to improve, though supplies can be thin on the weekends so I’d call ahead to reserve yours. There’s no cost associated with doing so, so everyone coming up in the next couple of months should definitely do so prior. Save yourself the frustration, a wide open bite, heavy guide bookings, or a broken down bait truck can cause supply issues, and does every year.
