Catching Big Bass On Senkos In March

Post by WB Staff »

I had a great day of largemouth fishing on 3/7/15 but it was also devastating at the same time. I managed to catch 3 bass for 11.47 lbs! A 4.12, 4.36 and a 2.99. I hooked an absolute giant bass on a jig that ended up coming unhooked mid fight. It had my 7'11" H Veritas doubled over and even with a tight drag and 20 lb fluorocarbon, it was able to peel out a bunch of line. I could barely move this fish and I could not make it surface. This is how I know it was an absolute giant!

Equipment Used:
7' M Daiwa Tierra Spinning Rod
Daiwa Tierra 2500 Spooled with 15 lb High Vis Yellow Power Pro Braid to 12 lb Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon Leader

Nice fish. I have a question. I've been using a black and blue senko to catch my fish out in the delta. What do the conditions have to be to use a red and black senko if thats the color your using??

During winter transition, especially in cooler, stained water, any black Senko will work. As the water begins to clear, like this past week, don't over look tossing the 7" 925. The 925 Laminate is Deadly on gorging fish as well as when they begin to spawn and move to beds.
