2004 optimax gear oil

Post by BrandonCook »

I'm wondering what gear oil you all are using on your 2004 mercury optimax lower units. Also when changing do you replace anything else other than the oil? And how many hours can you go between oil changes?

Thanks

I AM NOT SAYING THERE SHOULD BE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR STUPIDITY,

There are two different lubes, Premium and High performance. They can be labeled Quicksilver or Mercury. You need the High Performance. I usually buy mine at wally world.

Quicksilver is a Mercury brand. They are exactly the same. It does not matter which is used. They both come in the premium and HP. You would need the HP in either label.
