Thoughts before U.S.Open
Thoughts before U.S.Open
Gentlemen and Ladies. While packing for Mead, it dawned on me today is the anniversary of 9/11. 14 years ago our way of life was threatened by those who oppose freedom. What a blessing it is to live in a country where those of us who work hard can enjoy the fruits of our labor by doing something as simple as fishing. I have a son who is a pilot in the Air Force who is soon leaving for his third tour of duty in North Africa. He is a avid hunter and fisherman. I asked him once what goes through his mind during confrontations in the line of battle. He said he thinks of his family and the freedom he has to live the life he chooses. It's all with fighting for, he said. As we head out for truly a magnificent event like the U.S. Open, I'm thinking it's not about winning, but it's more about being able to fish. God Bless us all and safe travels this weekend.
