winter Delta fishing

Post by mark poulson »

I'm new to the South Delta.
I live on Sandmound, and launch out of Russo's.
I am not a tournament fisherman.
Any clues on what to throw now, and where, would be appreciated.

Look for the greenest grass with little to no water movement on main channels, dead end sloughs and marinas. Jerk baits with long pauses and then a jig, plastic beaver and drop shot for me. I also throw a swim bait when I feel like mixing it up.

Good luck!

I moved this past July.
I don't think they've figured out I'm here yet, so mum's the word.
Cooch has already told me so much.
I just need to venture out in the 30+ degree weather. I'm allergic to cold.
But today looks promising, with sun all day and light winds.

Yeah, it just got too expensive to live in L.A.
I chickened out and did yard work today instead of fishing.
It's a rip roaring 49 degrees out there now, up from 28 overnight.
It's supposed to hit 31 tonight, and then up to 51 tomorrow, so I may go out, once it gets into the 40's.
I know I won't be running a long way, that's for sure!

Mark I live on taylor, shoot me a pm sometime. Fishing a rattle trap just off the bottom so slow it doesnt even really vibrate and a rip bait is what id suggest besides a jig and dont shy away from current just cuz its cold. oh and we are in THE delta.. not south.. this is heart of the delta man!! LOL
is that glitter!? Nice boat tinkerbell!
