How many will ever have two double-digit bass show up at the same weigh-in?

The Caney Lake Bass Club can now check the second box.

Last Saturday, March 20, club members Mark Hodge and Brice Jones, both from West Monroe, mined Caney Lake for bass that tipped the scales in excess of 10 pounds. Hodge’s fish weighed 10.86; Jones’ fish weighed 10.36.

Jones won the tournament with four bass that weighed 16.85 pounds; Hodge finished second with four that weighed 15.98, but he won big-fish honors.

So much for sharing the prize money with anybody else.

“I kind of feel for Brice,” Hodge admitted. “He’s sitting there with a big fish, and to come in second.”
