Earlier on Monday, it was reported that the Red Sox were having Lackey take a physical, typically an indication that a free agent is on the verge of signing.

Lackey will join Jon Lester and Josh Beckett in what would have to be considered one of the most formidable rotation trios in the Major Leagues.

Big signing by the Sox. Angels did not have a good winter meeting same with the Cubs. Angels need to step up and sign someone. I like Matsui especially for the postseason but they now need an ace in the rotation and the market is drying up fast. Seattle now has Fig and Cliff Lee. The Rangers signed HArden. Both division rivals have improved themselves. If they can get Jason Bay that would be big. But what ace is left out there

yeah not looking so good so far this winter. Once again the angels arent pulling the trigger.. Arte must be counting all that money from hosting the all star game this upcoming season than improving the squad.

Stock, whats the over under on how many days Lackey will be on the DL coming out of spring training? I'd say about 45 sounds about right. Unless, of course, he makes it out of camp and has to pitch in one of those fridgid early spring games in New England...then he will be right back on the shelf.

Time will tell, but you WAAAAY over paid for a 32 year old pitcher with a history of arm problems.

As with everything time will tell, but using recent history as a guide your point here is right on.

I really hope Lackey doesnt end up beating us in the playoffs...

we got to get their first.. and the way Lackey is you can beat your sweat @ss there is nothing he would want to do more than to stick it us for not believing in him.

We finished 12 games ahead of them last year limping all year. We will win yet another divsion title this year.. AL west isnt that hard to take down.

only pink hats care about divsional titles anyways. It's all about the RING.

We got the best out of Lackey. Boston over paid for a guy who has had arm trouble the last two seasons. His never wanting to give up attitiude is great, but it takes a toll on your arm when you should be icing and you are out there squeezing an extra 20 pitches a game.

You should be happy that they picked him, because that move alone is a HUGE risk that could haunt Boston for years.

50 bucks in lures says Angels finish higher then Seattle in the AL west? We pick the choice of lures, but lets not dig in the garage for crap?
