Inherited Dad's gun

My fathers first real rifle of his own own was a Springfield 22 Model 84C-

It had a Monte Carlo stock and cross hatch engraving. I found a butt plate to replace the broken one and two clips for it - a 5 shot and a 10 shot. It was made by the Stevens Arms Company in Chicopee, Mass and takes shorts, longs and long rifle. I used this gun as a kid and figure it was manufactured in the 30s or 40s. I was surprised to find that even in excellent condition it would only be worth $180 to $200.

Knowing that it has no value, I've decided to restore it to its original condition. I'm going to get it sanded and re-blued and get the bolt re-nickle plated. I'm having an expert gunsmith in Colusa do the work. He did some checking and figures it might be custom or special edition as he can find none like it.
