On Sunday, February 3rd, Central Valley Kayak Fishing (CVKF) will be kicking off the 2019 season at Kaweah Lake located east of Visalia in Tulare County. For the season opener, Brigham Vang (Tournament Director) and crew have decided to mix it up. There will be a random partner draw before launch and two-person teams will be identified. The tournament will be a four fish limit with each angler submitting their best two fish. The total length from the team will be submitted for scoring. This will be an opportunity for anglers to get to know each other. Kayaks, Belly Boats, Pontoon Boats, and electric motors will be permitted at all events this season to encourage more anglers to get out there and compete. This tournament will not count towards to the points for the TOC.

Brigham emphasized that safety is first and foremost for the CVKF circuit. He will always be requiring all anglers to wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket when on the water and display a stern light that is visible from 360 degrees during low light conditions.

The August 4th event on Eastman Lake will be a night to early morning tournament. Launch will be at 3:00 AM and check-ins will be at 11:00 AM to beat the heat.

All other tournaments will launch just before or at daylight and check-ins will be in the early afternoon. Details regarding each tournament will be posted here in advance of the tournament.

Entry fees for all events will be $40.00 and that includes big fish. Payout will be top 3 places at 80%. There are no membership fees.

“I welcome all anglers to come on down to the central valley lakes for some friendly competition,” said Brigham Vang.
