Kayak vs. canoe

I have a small kayak for fishing that is not stable enough to stand in so I've been thinking of getting bigger one. But then I got to thinking about a canoe (for instance, 12 or 14 foot solo one).
Why not? As I fish mostly in ponds and slow rivers. I kinda like the idea, though I'm not certain that it might be a good move. So I am looking for recommendations, on which craft will do me better and why. I probably will be searching for used come closer to spring, so I have plenty of time.

upd: narrowed down my options to these - Jackson Tripper 12 (hybrid) or something from Old Town (like Discovery 119, since feeback is pretty decent). Is there anyone who use one of these?

A Kayak is much easier to use on calm waters and if you're a beginner. Kayaks are easier to paddle and control as well. A canoe is less cramped and roomier and you'll be able to see things better. I would probably go with a canoe. I anything you can check out these kayaks.
