Planned on heading up to clear lake for the amazing bite I've heard of. Also hearD there is a recent fire up there that is pretty bad where they are already evacuating people from lower lake. Anyone know if you can still launch in the south say the oaks or redbud or if any roads are closed??

Thanks and tightlines

Was up there yesterday and launched out of Red Bud. No issues, and no signs of any fire up there (unless the fire started after we left in the late afternoon.). You should be good to go.

53 is closed from 20 to 29, so redbud is out (unless you want to go around borax lake.

Oaks is still open as is Lucerne - launching should be no problem. Plenty of smoke (an smell) but that will depend on which way the wind is blowing.

As of 10am this morning:
From LCSO: Highway 53 is open to all traffic between Olympic Dr. and Highway 20; however, it remains closed between Olympic Dr. and Highway 29.

"Brian Martin ยท Sheriff at Lake County Sheriff's Office
As of this morning (Monday, Aug. 15), 53 is closed between 29 in Lower Lake and Olympic Drive in Clearlake. We will be working to get the highway reopened as soon as safe to do so. The fire activity will dictate much of our decision making."

You may be able to get to redbud by going to Olympic and then back up main street to the turn off to redbud, but the situation is continually evolving.

My son and I were there this past weekend, we left just after they issued the evacuations for Clear Lake.
Heard that roads are open to Redbud today.
We caught loads of fish (300+) mostly smaller fish but enough 3 lbrs thrown in to make it fun. We found the best bite for us was with jigs, but throw what you want as they were biting everything for us except top water. Jigs, drop shot, texas rigged worms, c rigs, wacky rigged worms and senkos, crankbaits, chatterbaits all of it was working.
