Blade Baiting

We've had a nice break in the weather this week and actually had a record high for Thanksgiving. Temps in the low 50's in late November is a rarity in Spokane so of course, I had to go fishing. The water is still cold, mid 40s, so the blade bait has been the best performer lately. We also caught a few on a Ned Rig and drop-shot but the blade has been the way to go.
We were fishing fairly deep and as you can see here, the water temp and depth are basically the same.
This was a typical fish we were catching. Nice fat smallies like the one Noah is holding. No giants, but still fun to catch.
We also had perch, pikeminnows and fat crappie crunching the metal. I hardly ever catch crappie on this lake but late in the year they are everywhere out deep with the bass.
Blade bait fishing also makes for some interesting screenshots with all the up and down motion.
We are really lucky to have a few more weeks of the season. The arrival of winter is always a difficult time for bass anglers in the Inland Northwest, so we are happy to have as many extra days as we can. I'm hoping to get out a few more times and the blade bait will be my go-to.
