Anyone have a Hook 7 and would recommend it? What are the pros and cons about it? At $329, I think its a good buy

I have both. I use two hook 7s at the bow. One unit with split screen sonar and down imaging. The other unit I run strictly for mapping with a Navionics chip. Does everything I want it to do. The DI really confirms what you see on 2d sonar and it really helps show fish that are in trees or bushes. I run a Hook2 9 SplitShot at the console. These have a much faster processor than the old Hooks and Elite HDIs. Nice unit with 2d, DI, and GPS. Even better with a chip for mapping. The only change I plan on making anytime soon is to get a Hook2 Tripleshot for the console so I can have side imaging. Overall they're good units for a good price.

The new Hook2 Series is a great choice if you want the simplest to install and operate fish finder on the market, at a great price. It is fully automatic, so you cannot get the settings wrong, and the picture is fantastic. It has regular sonar, and also has sidescan and downscan if the TripleShot version is purchased.

It is not designed to network or do many of the premium functions tournament anglers like and need, but you are also not paying for those more expensive features.

Marc

When you have a Hook 7 on the console and another one on the bow, can you run them at the same time? I currently have a hook 5 at console and hook 3 on bow but unless I run the hook 3 on 83Khz, they interfere with another. Is it true you cannot run more than 1 unit at a time?

Any time you have two fishfinders on the same boat, operating on the same frequency, where you are in deep enough water their sonar cones overlap, you will experience cross-talk interference, regardless of the model or brand. A common solution is to run them on different frequencies, as you have already learned.

You can also put the console unit in standby mode when you're at the bow fishing. This way you only have one ducer pinging.
