**ATTN ALL BASS FISHERMEN** please read and share. I have been involved with tournament bass fishing since around 1985, and most of my friends and family are associated with fishing as well. I recently ordered a new stainless propeller to have as a spare, from Phil's Propeller in Redding, Ca. Over all my years, and far longer for some of my friends, Phil's Props has been the Go-to place for high performance propeller repairs and sales. Well, when I received my "New" Mercury Bravo 1 XS today, I was excited to unwrap it and put it on to try this weekend. When I opened the box(which was a used box with prior addresses marked out) I was shocked to discover a used prop!!! It has exhaust all over the inside of the hub, greasy smudges all over it, and wear on the inside hub. I was charged $711 for it, the cost of a new one plus shipping and wonderful Cali taxes!! It even has a big pile of weld at the base of the hub that would prevent it from fully seating in the shaft!!! I GOT RIPPED OFF!!! They are sending me a return label to send it back, and claim they will refund my money. But in the meantime, I am without a spare prop that I planned on having for an importance stretch of championship tourneys coming up in the next month. I have always referred people to Phil's Props over the years. Those days are OVER!!! They will never get another penny of my money!! Not even for quick tackle needs while up there in that area. Spread the word!! Phil's Props is no longer the trustable, dependable, go-to place for prop needs!!

Maybe they just made a mistake. Maybe try giving them a chance to make it right.

You haven't go ripped off yet so you shouldn't air your grievances so quickly. Let them straighten it out before calling them out. They probably think they're the ones getting ripped off.

Yes I have gotten ripped off!! I've gone the 3 weeks waiting on them when I could have gone with someone else that would have sent me a NEW prop!! They knew the prop was used, and knew they packed it in a box that had already been shipped to at least 2 prior addresses!!

Well they weren't trying to hide anything so most likely a mistake was made somewhere. You seem pretty agitated and I wouldn't be happy about the situation either. I'm assuming you probably called them when you were fired up and instead of them bending over backwards to make you happy they just said screw it and offered you a refund to be done with it. Hopefully you will get a replacement prop in time.

It sounds to me like a mistake was made and is in the process of being corrected, to the best of their ability. I understand that you are perturbed that it doesn't fit your time line and you wont do business with them for your reasons. With that being said I am locking this thread and wish you well on the rest of your tour.
