A Lakes Area staple may fall under a new corporate umbrella in the near future. Pure Fishing's parent company Newell Brands announced Friday it plans to potentially sell a number of it tertiary business brands, including Pure Fishing. Michael Sinatra, the company's director of external communications, said Pure Fishing has not been sold as of yet and there is no specific buyer in place at the moment.

"Newell Brands announced that it is exploring strategic options, including the possibility of divestiture, of our portfolio of fishing brands," Sinatra said. "Our Pure Fishing Division remains an important part of our company during this period of transition and we are committed to identifying the right owner that will be a better strategic fit and unlock new opportunities for these brands and their employees."

The brands selected to be held for sale, ranging from Pure Fishing to Rubbermaid, make up approximately 35 percent of the company's net sales, according to the company announcement. Area philanthropist and former Congressman Berkley Bedell founded the company that became Pure Fishing with $50 of paper route money in 1937...

hmmmm - that would be interesting.

Im sure he would buy that company.But the org he should buy is NASCAR its also for sale. Both companys need a turn around.
