We are putting a news film crew together to run a story on the herbicide application on the delta waters and need to find out if anyone knows where the application group is headquartered!
We are hoping to be on the delta next week with a federal biologist who is an environmental specialist and want to film the boats in action as well as sample the waters that are in different stages of treatment.
You can text, call or email any information you may have.

Ask to review their permits for operation and see what they tell you.

Any of you know what the pellets are actually called? What chemical it actually is or at least the name of the product?

I feel like ive seen the answer to this before, but

Who pays for these boats to go out and spread the pellets?
is it a tax payer funded thing?

And Roundup is what they spray for Hyacinth and Primrose.
"Herbicide applications during the treatment period will utilize Glyphosate (Roundup Custom) and Imazamox (Clearcast).

There is an entire crew of them that are stored out at and launch out of paradise. Each time they launch 2-6 boats at a time and they're going anywhere from pixley all the way north to whites and I've even seen them out by goat island as well

They store the boats at paradise but I don't always see them launch there. They must trailer to other ramps sometimes.

wonder why they don't just use one of those big barge like boats that just scoop up the weeds. to offset the cost of this they can then dump it on a lot and turn it to compost and sell it as supercharged organic fertilizer rather than spray toxic chemicals all over the place and pollute the waterways.

They were doing that in 14-Mile Slough back in March. Kinda cool to watch.

Whats the name of that thick grass that is really bad/clogs up your trolling motor. Since the other weeds are being eliminated, the sun is really making these grow and spreading. I think it's worse than the other weeds.

I think it is an algae, not a true grass, although we call it snot grass.
It seems to me that the more hydrilla they poison, the more snot grass we get.

I don't think the people responsible for the spraying program pay much attention to media.

Gents - ask them for their application and management plan. Then ask for results and water quality monitoring. If they do not provide, tell they you'll FOIA them. Ask for a supervisor. I've been working to compile data - to show that much of this program is lacking.

Are they required to have those documents in their possession, and to show it on demand?

No...but their programs should have some foundational plans.

Have you tried contacting them?
I get weekly emails from them showing what they're spraying/pelleting, and where.
I signed up on their website.

It’s part of the wiin act of 2016 . They are not just targeting the grass , the pellets take the oxygen out of the water to kill invasive species. Striped bass , largemouths and all other introduced species are the targets along with the aquatic vegetation.

Is it safe to even eat fish that spend a bit of time in the delta any longer?

Won't that stuff kill the salmon, too?

No, the salmon run in the main river channels. No grass there. Also, I don’t see any bass floating around, dead. The fish obviously don’t benefit from pesticides and it may contribute to a change in reproduction cycles, habitat for the fish. But, I think the guys who struggle fishing the Delta tend to immediately blame the spraying, the weather, the tides, the pressure, etc. it may be a contributing factor but look in the mirror before you start pointing fingers.

I've seen salmon in the back of Sandmound, and in Disco Bay. Those aren't main river channels, but they are being bombarded with pellets.

Your only point to writing on this thread was to insult me, rather than letting your “intelligence” and “knowledge” do the talking. Bet you wouldn’t say something stupid like that if you spoke to me in person.

Guys, this topic is too important to let it get side tracked. Everyone here wants what's best for the Delta, or they wouldn't even be here.

Agreed. If they are soo concerned about the weed, mats, and grass growth on the delta, why wouldn’t they just manually remove it like what they do in the Tahoe Keys in South Lake Tahoe?? They wouldn’t dare to ever spray pesticides in Lake Tahoe so why is it acceptable in the delta rivers? It also does not make sense why the farmers, growers and Southern California would need more water, haven’t they all had enough time to build an infrastructure that can withstand growth. Where’s the accountability? Robbing Peter to pay Paul, makes sense. Liberals and activists lie in the middle of the road to protest and block traffic to fight against what they feel in wrong... let’s damn the rivers!!
