A Napa woman charged with setting 11 fires near Lake Berryessa from 2015 to 2017 pleaded no contest Wednesday to three counts of arson.

Debra Ann Windholz, 60, entered her plea in Napa County Superior Court before Judge Diane Price. She is set to be sentenced Sept. 18, according to a release from Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley.

Windholz, who works for a Solano County government agency, was arrested in December on charges that she set 11 fires between Oct. 30, 2015, and Aug. 10, 2017, in the area of Berryessa Knoxville Road.

In interviews with Cal Fire investigators, Windholz admitted to discarding lit cigarettes and matches at the ignition points of several of the fires, Deputy District Attorney Agnes Dziadur said.

The agreement with prosecutors calls for Windholz to register as an arson offender, be on probation for four years and spend up to six months in the Napa County jail.

Better idea...put her a** to work on the fire lines. Let her experience first-hand what her playing with matches caused! (I doubt that they would be able to get much money out of her for restitution...might as well get something, even if it's just cheap labor)
And tinybass might even get his wish!

People who start fires like this are sick.
They need to be locked up, to prevent them from doing it again.
But they shouldn't be punished for being sick. They should be treated, and never released.

Who wrote this story a 5 year old? So did she do it intentionally or was she just careless and reckless? Was she walking or driving in a car? Is there proof she started any fire? How did they even catch her? Evidently with the light jail sentence she received they didn't have much evidence. Nonetheless she is an idiot. She must of had a piss poor lawyer because if she would have fought this I bet her charges would have been reduced to littering. Discarded cigarettes cannot start a fire. A match can but the evidence must of been weak.

Somebody is starting these fires and the authorities either don't know or won't say. The good news is that in 5 years there won't be anything left to burn.

She's probably on "paid administrative leave" until she's able to get back to work.
