Ranger Dual Pro Charger, no lights

When I plugged in 120 volt power all the lights came on and then they all went off.
Anyone have any ideas of what is wrong?

I hooked up an external charger to the cranking battery thinking that the batteries may be two low for the dual pro to start charging. This is something that I have done in the past with a super low battery charge. After about two hours I got one red light to come on. That light was on the first bank. I should have got all the red lights to come on from the first bank.

Contact Dual Pro and ask them.

Dual Pro wasn't much help. Their answer to the problem was, "Buy a new one". I haven't had much luck with Dual Pro over the years. When the Dual Pro failed in my last boat, I bought a Stealth 1 charging system. It worked great and it charges the trolling motor batteries on the run. The cost is about the same. Looks like that I will buy the Stealth 1 if I can't get the Dual Pro to charge.

I had an issue with a Dual Pro 4-5 years ago, had my dealer (C&C Marine) check it out and they ended up getting a new replacement from Dual Pro at no charge. I know all circumstances are different, but I would reach out to your local dealer for a little help / advice.

My boat is a 2008 Z-21. The charger has a tag on the power cord saying it was re-conditioned. I don't think Dual Pro will replace a 10 year old charger.

How long should a reconditioned Dual Pro onboard battery last? After 10 years of use it sounds like Dual Pro gave you good advice.

Found the problem. The male plug from the charger was bad. The wires were connected enough to get a voltage reading but would not carry the required amperage to the charger. Installed a new male plug and all is good. Good thing I didn’t take Dual Pro’s advice and buy a new charger.

I'm glad that you found an easy fix. Dual Pro chargers do have a lot of issues though. I have heard of guys replacing 1 bank on the Dual Pro chargers if it goes bad, which is better than having to replace the whole thing.
Buy a Noco Genius or Minn Kota if you need a new charger. They are generally more reliable than the Dual Pro and Pro Mariner. I had horrible luck with Pro Mariner. They are like Dual Pro in that they try to sell you a new one every two years because they don't last long. Don't get caught in that trap.
The Stealth style onboard chargers are nice, but they don't guarantee that your batteries are charged at the end of the day. You have to pair them with a plug-in charger.
