Bill Would Ban Wildlife Derbies

Eight Democrats at the request of the Humane Society of the United States have introduced a bill that would ban all contest related to the take of wildlife. The bill currently defines wildlife to exclude fish, but this is the first step to ban all fishing derbies, big buck or bull contests, coyotes derbies, etc.

It’s critical that you CLICK HERE to email the Senate Judiciary Committee to oppose this emotionally charged and non-science based legislation. https://oregonoutdoorcouncil.org/contac ... egislator/

It appears that this is happening in Oregon. Could anyone ( WB Staff, maybe?) shed any additional light on this? If it takes hold in Oregon, you can bet that California WILL jump on the bandwagon, or should I say BAN-wagon! And if this is an attempt at a national ban, you can bet that sportsman-friendly states such a Texas will do their best to shoot it down, figuratively speaking.

This bill, as troubling as it stands is limited to Oregon.
While all concerned can participate in the poll and express their displeasure, out of state opinions will have less of an influence on the Oregon Legislature.

If this passes in Oregon, Don't think for a minute that California won't follow withing 6 months.
