150 mercury
Currently run a tempest plus 24p. It has excellent top speed but I want more now lift and better rough water driving.
Thinking a 23p would be perfect but what style? 3 or 4 blade?
Thanks in advance for your info

Most guys running Merc 150s on 18 footers are probably running 23P Tempest Plus 3 blade. The guys who want to run a 4 blade are running a 24P Trophy Plus. That sounds like what your after. I myself prefer the 4 blade but it comes at a speed loss. They handle a heavy load much better and I don’t have a reason to run WOT anymore. You might look on bassboatcentral.com. You’re likely to find some threads with numbers on your same setup.

I agree with Nick 100%. But, I prefer a 3 blade myself as Nick said you'll lose a little on top end with 4 blade. Your RPM's is biggest question here. I can't remember what max RPM is for that engine. I like to run high RPM. Example if the range is 5500-6000 RPM for recommended range. I like to run about 5800. It will very a bit with winter cold water and summer warm water and warmer air temps. Also, you can take a prop to a place like Phil's in Redding. They can add cup and adjustments to a prop to get more lift and drop/raise RPM's. They can dial a prop into your boat. I'd start with 23" in your case and watch my RPM. The Fury prop should run well on your boat too. The Tempest is awesome prop as well and I believe a must on 21 foot or heavier boats. The larger blade surface on Tempest props helps with heavier boats. Good luck!!

24p May be too much for your 150... I’d look at running a 23p, 4 blades are good for lift and rougher conditions. Fury or Tempest are both good in the 4 blade
