Attorney General of California sues to stop raising of Shasta Dam

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed a lawsuit Tuesday to block a project which would raise the height of Shasta Dam, citing possible negative effects on the McCloud River and its wild trout fishery, both protected under California law.
Becerra referred to the California Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, which prohibits any agency of the State of California from assisting or cooperating with actions to raise the Shasta Dam.
