Where to stay at Clear Lake?

I fished clear lake one time about 15 years ago with a buddy.....can’t remember where we stayed.....some hotel in Lakeport. Looking to take the wife and kids for 3-4 days this fall.... we are preferably looking for a nice hotel with a boat ramp and overnight dock so we don’t have to launch/load the boat every day.... be even better if we had private access/dock out the back of the room?

I know there are tons of vacation rentals, but we enjoy having someone else make the bed everyday and the convenience of eating out. Doesn’t have to be 5 star but definitely not the Bates Motel either. Thanks.

Konocti Vista Casino and Resort is a site sponsor. If you want to check them out and see a video of the resort from the water. Here it is.

At the south end the Clear Lake Cottages & Marina might be worth checking out. The cottages were clean and renovated when I stayed there last summer. https://www.clearlakecottagesandmarina.com

It's more expensive than Konocti Vista, but they have different size cottages and beds. They have a small ramp and 6-8 slips if memory serves. I moored my boat there. Launched at Red Bud.

Nice to see this post as i'm considering taking the family up for a quick weekend trip for my bday next week.

I've never been so looking for all helpful tips for fishing and accommodations!

Planning on towing the boat up there so would be nice to keep it on the water if possible next to a house that can fit a family of 4-8 people.

Is there one end of the lake that's fishing better currently?

I'm in a 18'10" Triton and i know it can get BIG out there and w/ no experience i don't want to get into trouble crossing the whole thing at the wrong time lol

Thanks and don't mean to hijack your thread...

I was up there this past weekend. The south (Red Bud arm) is very green with an algae bloom now. I didn't bother going to the north (west). I focused on clearer, cooler water, docks with tullies, tully areas. I caught most of my fish on a white frog and green 5 and 6" senkos - 297, 301, 330, both weedless and texas style. I caught a couple on dark color jigs, but nothing big. In the morning or sundown, in the tullies with the frog. As the sun came out, shady areas of the docks.

I fished from sunrise to about 11. Came in and then went back out about 6pm after dinner. I didn't want to fight the heat. I found some nice fish in the following areas:

1. Eastern most part of Horseshoe. There is a cut on the east most part with a handful of houses and tullies. The water was clearer and cooler (high 70s, low 80s). They were also hanging out up tight to the grass shores in the early mornings or early evenings.
2. Glenhaven and down the bank along the north shore where there were tullies, shallow and docks. Again, cooler, clearer water.

I didn't find any fish on the famous deep areas, with drop offs, that were willing to eat. I didn't fish any of the deep docks. The fish weren't schooling at all yet...too warm. Most areas had water temps 82-84.

I had a blast with myself, my fish finder Beka and Carol catching a bunch!

I agree if i was going up with my family for a few days I would try to get into Skylark as my first choice and Konokti as my second.

We used to stay at the Mallard House in Lake Port. Nice "Cottages", has a boat dock but no ramp. But it's close to the public ramp by Skylark. Been a few years, but we really liked it.
