Delta Carp?

Was thinking about this the other day.
I started going to the Delta in the early 80s.
There used to be carp all over the Delta. Guys used to modify boats to include a raised platform so they could shoot carp with bow and arrow. Also used to see dead carp all over the place, cause once you kill them you ain't going to eat them.
But the Delta is pretty big and I can't imagine those bow hunters wiped out the entire carp population.
Was it salt-water intrusion or something else? And I'm pretty sure the sealions didn't do it.
Thanks,

I fish mostly the central Delta (Franks to Mildred). I wonder what areas you guys are seeing them.
I don't doubt that they are still there but I used to see them alll the time, but haven't seen any for years.
Curious.
Thanks,

I’m sure they’re inside Mildred and Mandeville, Stockton, dead ends of some sloughs, and super south delta

Which carp cannot be thrown back? Grass carp are invasive and need to be killed, but common carp are a naturalized species and I can't find any regulations about them. Funnily enough, grass carp are not actually true carp...

I think it's sad that carp have such a bad rep in America. 90% of what people say about them isn't even true. Good reference:
