I am back from Mead and I stunk up the place.
I am just getting over being very sick while I was there so my practice was cut short every day. It got so bad I went to urgent care to get help. I am not making any excuse but man was I ever sick. $90.00 later for meds I was ready to go on Day 1. I found a few beds and counted on them for the tournament. Well there was my downfall. I had not found enough because these fish were spooky and I could only catch 1 good male and I sat and tried for the female who was around 6 to 7 pounds and she just would not bite.Day 2 was more of the same for me as I tried for her again and the same results.

Lake Mead can be a very humbling lake. At least you made it back in one piece. I bet it was nasty out there with the storms blowing through

It did get nasty. I broke 3 battery boxes. I am calling Tom Phillips today to get 3 from him.

DOH. I guess I spoke too soon on that one. I have this lasting image in my mind of guys trolling motors ripped off the bow at the WON Mohave tournament 2 years ago.

I have seen it happen at Mead many more times. I watched Mike Baldwin loose 2 motors. 1 each day.

Well look at it this way Ray ... I sucked worse !!!

The good news is I can't believe the numbers of quality fish that I saw swimming around in that lake. It has really come back from a few years ago !!

And I thought the wind was from a front coming onshore not a vacuum in the desert At least you were do'n what comes naturally...I just pulled 34 hours in the last two days here at work on top of my 40 hour week....I would just like to fish period!

Hey Todd you and I both just sucked. I guess we should put our hopes on those fish eating next weekend.

Dont feel bad Ray, Kyle and I have weighed in 71.16lbs in the last 3 DVL events and can't get past 2nd place. I guess we suck also. Rick G.

Sorry to hear about the bad times Ray. Can anyone tell me what was the baits being used??

I know what to use but am not giving it up yet as I am fishing W.O.N. and I hope to get on the fish a little bit better.

...I'm guessing that it starts with a "J" and ends with an "ig". But that's just an uneducated guess. (Har Har!).

I will say this much, the year that Wiggy won the U.S. Open, it was held in early April. Me thinks that he was probably fishing "Retro" this past weekend. If you guys remember (or can find out) what he won that U.S. Open on, you will probably be in the ballpark. However, out of respect to Kevin Wiggins, I ain't talking.

That is 1 of the baits. The rest I am not saying.Yes I do remember that win.

Hey Ray, Sounds like Murph has the same type of crud. He has been sick for 2 weeks. He's had a tough time getting over this bug. Its hard to get motivated when you feel rotten. I had to kick him out the door Wednesday for the pre-fish. He was disappointed in his performance also. What a weird bite. The weather is looking better for this weekend. When are you heading back?

Hey Mel I think Murph and I have the same kind of bug.
I am going back I think either Wed. night or Thursday morning.
I have to do my taxes on Tuesday and get some things to fix my boat. I broke my battery boxes on Sat. comming back from Echo so I need to get new wires and boxes.

Bummer, about the taxes I'm heading down tomorrow after work. We have the houseboat for the week and I'm not missing out on another day down there. Its snowing here right now YUK. I'm rotating the heat packs and ice packs on my back after a rough boat ride Saturday. Hope to be better by Saturday, otherwise Hutch will have to find a AAA to take my place. See you down there. Must be nice to have the houseboat. I am staying at Siena. I hope to be on the water Thursday morning Early. I am thinking of going out of Echo that day.
