Getting out of the wind on the Delta

It seems like it's been pretty windy this year and it's been beating me up pretty good.
If I'm launching in Franks Tract where are the areas that I should run to to get out of the wind which is usually blowing out of the West?
Should I run down towards Mandeville and Mildred or into Sandmound or somewhere else that is protected? It would be nice to fish without having to deal with the wind and throw nothing but moving baits some days.

Sometime we have to embrace the wind other times we run from it - if its blowin west find sloughs that run N-S - Fish against the winward side to ease the fight and keep your casts low. I think there is good places all around franks that you can go to - Piper Slough, Dutch, Bethel Island, all offer areas of reprise.

After 8 years of fishing out of Bethel Island I still have not learned to love it. I think I'll try some of the areas some of the others mentioned...
