New Lake, Big Bass

There are tons of lakes in Washington state and I have fished quite a few of them. Most of the lakes within a few hours of my house are frequent stops by either me or someone I know, so I feel like I have a pulse of what lakes are "hot". That's what made my trip late last week so fun, it was a lake I had never seen and very knew little about. It is a little over three hours away right near the Canadian border and all I knew was it had monster smallmouth in it.
I've heard stories of it and all of the big bass in there and wasn't disappointed. Even though it is immediately post-spawn and hot (sometimes a challenge for smallies) the fishing was pretty good. We never caught any true giants but had countless over four with a few that we actually weighed coming in at weights like 4-4, 4-9, 4-11, and 4-12.
They were all very fat and feeding on perch as you can see from this glutton I caught.
We caught them on plastics, swimbaits, and topwater for the most part. I fished a topwater as much as I could because they were crushing it and who doesn't love a big smallie on top. This one went 4-12 and ate a walking bait not long after we launched the boat.
I'll definitely be going back and will probably try to time it around the pre-spawn or late fall for a chance at some much bigger fish.
