Question,,, I custom paint lures. A friend of mine brought me a box of old vintage lures to paint. There are about 30 lures in the box. Most look to be old Heddon baits. Some are wood and some plastic. The crankbaits all have the old metal lips. They have the old style hook protectors. Most of them are in pretty rough shape. I'm apprehensive because I dont want to strip down and re-paint a lure that could be worth some serious money. Is anyone out there knowledgeable about vintage baits? Is there any way to tell which ones may be worth money? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check Ebay and that should give you some idea how rare they are and the going prices

Some of those things are collectibles.

Buy him a Glass front memory/shadow box, add some old photos. And keep them for ever.

Then Send him to Fisherman's warehouse, drive the local economy!

This is from a person who has repainted my 5A bombers crawdad crank-baits over and over!

Ive been collecting for years, prices arent as good as they were 15 years ago. Ebay is easy to check value. Also facebook pages that will help.
The rare ones should not be repainted unless youre just going to fish them.
