From the Depths (FTD) hosted a state wide month long tourney for February 2021. It was a battle to the end with 3 anglers vying for the title: Ivan Lee of Sacramento, Matt Guthrie of Lodi and John Myers of Atwater. Ivan and Matt duked it out on the Delta while John tried to make it happen on the Motherlode focusing his efforts on Lake Don Pedro, New Melones Reservoir and Lake Tulloch. Only 1.25 inches ultimately separated Lee and Guthrie with 103.25 inches and 102 inches respectively. Myers was able to land 96 inches and the big fish of the tournament (a 24.5 inch, 10.83 pound New Melones Largemouth).

Here’s your top ten:
1. I. Lee – 103.25 inches
2. M. Guthrie – 102.00 inches
3. J. Myers – 96.00 inches
4. J. Magno – 93.50 inches
5. B. Kennerly – 92.50 inches
6. B. Vogt – 90.75 inches
7. J. Nunez – 90.50 inches
8. J. Bayard – 90.25 inches
9. R. Her – 90.00 inches
10. D. Miller – 89.50 inches

Lee reported that Guthrie kept him on his toes and on the water. He reports spending every free moment on the water to keep ahead of Guthrie. “I was fishing up north off the Feather River in the Yuba area. My first big fish came on the Hudd in a foot of water. The remainder came on a homemade jig with a Strike King Rage Craw in California Craw”, said Lee. He went on to report that his big bites all came in the mid-day to early afternoon when the water heated up.

Next up for Lee is the FTD Week Long Tourneys where the top prize is a free entry to the CA BASS Nation Kayak Series event on Clear Lake on May 23rd.
