Guys/Gals,

What is your opinion on this? Does it get too hot with the insulation? How thin is the non insulated guidewear?

I have the top non-insulated, and the bibs insulated, and I have never had a issue with being to hot or to cold. Been out in the snow for a weekend no problems. Steve Eheler

I have the uninsulated and I have no problems with it. You do want to get one size bigger than what you wear.

I have the Un-Insulated on both the Jacket and the Pants. The jacket comes with an Uber windbreaker that zips in and out.

I have been plenty warm all winter in this setup I wear sweats under the pants and sweats under the jacket and I have not been cold yet (except for my face and fingers) Also too in this weather that we are having I am not smoking hot in them, and they stay pretty warm.

Definately Uninsulated, even they are pretty warm during the warmer seasons when it rains. Mine are pretty warm even in the winter, I actually have to be carefull not to put on too many layers unter them or they make me sweat. If I had the insulated ones I don't think I could stand wearing them in anything over 50 degree weather. It can rain any time of the year so it is better to be able to layer up when it is cold.

I've got the Cabela's Dry Weave Guidewear with the Thinsulate insulation. Most of the time I am too warm but never have I gotten cold when wearing them. Hardly ever wear both the bibs and the parka at the same time otherwise I just bake. Though, I do remember a tourney at Oroville in Jan a couple of years ago when we launched in 26 degrees weather...was sure nice to be toasty that morning

Side Note:
The thinsulate guide wear keeps you warm even if it has been immersed. I had the misfortunate to take a dip at Lake Champlain in Upstate NY in 55 degree water during a tournament. Never did get cold. Was just a little humid the rest of the day once I got back in the boat, the bibs dried out but the Blue Jeans underneath stayed damp.

Easy maintenance too...Ya need to refresh them...just pop 'em in the washer with mild detergent and then run them through the dryer on low heat...like new

I've got Cabellas guidewear too (non-insulated) and couldn't be happier. I just wear the appropriate amount of layers that day. I also have Seal Skin socks, NB waterproof shoes, waterproof hood, (2) sets of gloves (for rain and non-rain), and goggles.

...you can always layer up underneith un-insulated Guide Wear, but you cannot layer down from insulated Guide Wear. Trust me (and the others) on this one.
