Getting a new rod to Bubba shot and pitch 6 and 7 inch Senko's in the Delta. The rod is 7ft 5in. Going to primarily use 15 to 20lb Flouro as well. What would be a good baitcasting reel to pair up with this new rod? Thanks!

There's a lot of good reels out there so whatever brand you prefer. I haven't had much luck with sub $80 reels. I've been using Daiwa Tatula's the last 4-5 years and they have held up great. I pitch drop shots and toss senkos on em with 15# line and they do great.

You may want to stay away from the Curado "DC" with the new braking technology. A friend has one and he can't pitch at all with it. He never really could pitch anyways but with that real it seemed worse.

I've been switching my reels to Revo's that Revo SX has 20lbs of braid and pitches smoothly. It comes in at 150.00 if you're looking for a sub $100 reel the Revo X is also a great reel, same drag different bearing configuration. For Senkos and bubba shot I use the Revo ALX, it is a top tier reel but as smooth as they get. (Pro tip, it looks like there are some inventory blow out sales on the ALX right now for 150 range) that's a steal!

Happy Hunting :)

DC reels unless it's the Metanium DC or Scorpion DC aren't meant for pitching. I have one myself and it feels like the chip has a trickier time responding to shorter, slower rotation of the spool like you do when pitching.

I use a Quantum Energy S3 reel for my power shot set up. It's nice because it has the flippin' switch on it that automatically engages the reel when you remove pressure from the thumb bar. And I can make easy little pitches to every piece of cover and be very efficient with them while covering water. It has a great breaking system and an excellent drag as well. Reasonably priced around $120 they are also coming with a 5 year warranty now...just can't beat them!!!

Dude I’ve been flipping and pitching the bubba shot to tullies , docks, and submerged grass on 20lb flipping floral, with a cheap Ardent “arrow flipping reel” been working great enough to make me want to try the more expensive one.the awsome thing about it is when you pitching to tullie all day with it you eventually get a lot of line twist and the reel only holds a short amount so it make your spool last longer.only draw back is you can’t cast it’s meant for only pitching/flipping. I’m shure there is better reels out there but for under $100 but it’s pulled plenty of 5lb delta lunkers for me and fit my budget at the time.
