From ABA We have received calls from anglers that are pre-fishing at Clear Lake. They are reporting a lot of large floating debris all over the lake. Rick Grover said to be extra cautious traveling through the narrows with the sun in your eyes in the morning. He saw many trees as big as 1-1/2 feet in diameter. Please slow down and be sure you can clearly see the water where you are running!

That's good advice on any lake with rising water levels that you are boating on. Oroville and Shasta are notorious for big floaters when the water rises.

Especially this year. All those water logged trees/laydowns that had sunk, and dried out will become floaters again as water rises. Some will be 30 -40 ft long. I've found a few new logs on the delta. (Can't wait for buzzbait season next year) Be careful out there, especially later on this winter and spring. (or get yourself a spare lower unit and propeller now :D ) Shasta, Oroville, Melones, Pedro, any of those bigger bodies of water I'm sure will become hazardous travelways for months.
