With winter finally here, I’m back in the garage making new jigs. I’m looking to get into making my own finesse swim jigs. I want to make 3/8oz with 1/0 stout hook to start. I’m trying to get as close to a Dirty Jigs Guppy head. id appreciate any advice.

Herring head underpin.
Specifically HHU-5-A
You can put a 1/0 5313 in the 3/8ths cavity. The collar and keeper will take up the entire hook shank. If you don't like that trim it off and whip finish a wb400 keeper on there.
Obviously you omit the insert...

I just bought that mold. Takes a 30 degree hook. The head he is describing uses a 90 and he wants a 1/0. Even if you modified it, that cavity wouldn't take a 1/0.
Another option would be the minnow head with a wire keeper. Not a very realistic head but you can at least put eyes on it.

Here's what I came up with. The top two are on a 2/0 604 hook. The others are on a 1/0 5313 hook. The perfect hook would be a 1/0 604. I removed the collar and keeper and made my own because the original is too big for most little swimbaits. I used white upholstery thread. By doing this, I actually reduced the weight of the head to 7 grams which is about a 1/4 oz.
Do what you want.

.035 lead wire glued over a thread base. Could use soldering wire also. Adds 2 or 3 grams.
