TYLER, Texas (KETK) – After months of anxiously waiting to hear back from the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) about a fish she caught that could possibly break a world record, Lea Anne Powell got confirmation that she had officially broken the world record for the biggest largemouth bass ever caught in her line class.

Powell explained that the process to get the record confirmed by the IGFA was thorough.

“The process was fairly intensive. I had to go online, fill out a whole bunch of paper work and then I actually had to mail in a line sample of the line that was used to catch the fish,” said Powell. “All the paper work, photos and documentation that I have had to go through multiple panels and I believe internationally.”

Few facts are missing, this isn’t the largest LMB ever caught on 12 lb line class. It is a Woman’s line class record.

I realize that but IGFA doesn’t have a 10 lb line class category; 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16 etc.
I GFA established a fresh water separate from salt water and at that time created Women’s and Men’s line classes.

When my 9 year old niece caught a 10 lb 13 oz bass at Don Pedro on 6 # test that might have been record too.
