My son and his friend were walking the bank going bass fishing between 3 to 7 pm and walk towards the dam under the ranger station and walk up on 108 crap laying out on the bank. I know there trash fish but its totally uncalled for to leave a message like that on the bank. I know the coyotes buzzards and eagles and other hawks well feed on them but come on people. Some are not even in the picture.

It use to be against the law to release the Squaw fish
Not sure if that or ever the case with carp.

Either way that’s going do get smelly and nasty

According to the California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 14, Section 1.63, it is unlawful to transport, transfer, or release live fish into state waters without a permit. This includes common carp, grass carp, and other non-native species. The law is in place to prevent the spread of invasive species and protect native ecosystems.

If you catch a carp, you must either keep it or humanely dispatch it before releasing it back into the water.

Maybe the result of a Archery contest? Carp eat lots of bass eggs these won’t be!

I agree.
They make great fertilizer I would bet

Not only do they eat eggs they are much more prolific
At minimum, carp produce about 2.5 times more eggs than bass (100,000 vs. 40,000).

At maximum, carp can produce up to 75 times more eggs than bass (1.5 million vs. 20,000).

Since carp can spawn multiple times per year, their reproductive advantage increases even further.


Leaving that many on the bank is disguising

DFG said it as ok to leave the carp on the bank and the park rangers said it was also ok to leave them also. It tells me there lazy and won't even go look.

Dang, there must be way too many carp in that lake if it’s so easy to kill that number of them. They’re over-running the bass and other gamefish, that’s for sure. What do we want - a lake for bass fishing or a carp pond?

Only the PETA types should get so pissed off about this. Feed them to the homeless instead of leaving em on the bank?
