Sticky Braid question

I have several of my reels spooled up with power pro braid. I guess its been on there about 4 months. It is starting to stick to itself on the spools. I know the best solution would be to respool, but the stuff isnt exactly cheap and is still in good condition other than being sticky. Is there anything to spray on to the line to make it slick again? I have real magic that i use on mono and flouro, but will it work on power pro braid? Thanks!!! 8)

Yeah, sticky-gummy, its not cutting in to the spool, it just peels off slower because its sticking to itself, like someone sprayed some glue on it. Its not all that bad, but it does shorten the casts a bit.

Are you sure you haven't spilt some thing on it, like a soda. I have never had any braid become sticky.

no nothing spilled on it. Seems like there is a slick coating on the braid when you buy it, and it sticks to itself after being on the spool a while. Is there anything i can put on the spool to loosen it up?

I have a couple of reels spooled with Berkley braid and they seem sticky till they get stretched and wet. Then they are fine.

I might add, i don't use them very much, just when I go to Clear Lake to get Pissed off.

Bassbones always says he'll teach me how to fish there but??????????????????? So for now I just go there and,

Bill

Leroy,

I have never had this problem with Power Pro I use.
What brand have you been using?I know that when the braid is new it has a slick coating that is on there till you throw it a few times.

Also,

Have you been prefishing for your club tourney?

Take Care, MartinD

Yeah Martin, i went to pineflat saturday. Me and Ben had a really good limit hopping from spot to spot. But you know how it goes at pineflat. I hope i can reproduce the patern on saturday. As far as eastman goes, i was there the last two weeks and did very well so i left it alone this week. 8)

I think I know how to fix this problem....

Take all the braid off the reel
Throw it in the trash
Respool with mono

thanks for the advice everyone. I love the braid, i must admit. Mono has its place and i have several rods rigged with it, but the feel and sensitivity, not to mention strength of braid has me hooked. I guess i better do some more side jobs, buy some kvd spray, and respool more often.

Something to consider is giving your reel a fres water rinse after a days use..Especially if you have been fishing in very dirty water..Chances are your line picked up something while in use..
