Spinnerbait recycling into chatterbaits

If you have spinnerbaits you don't throw anymore, either because they don't catch fish, have been rebent too often to run true, or just aren't the "right" brand ( ), don't file them away.
Cut off the wire an inch above the lure body, take a pair of round nosed wire bending pliars and put a loop tight to the lure head, with a tight bend at the end like a cross over snap.
Now you can put on a split ring and blade, and you have a chatterbait.
Most spinnerbait heads run true by design, and lots of them have baitfish heads that are great. And you can vary the trailer and skirt however you want.
The best part is they catch fish.

 You've got to be kidding. I just barely figured out how to post, let alone how to put pictures in a post.
I know, it's "easy". I'll try to email you a picture.

I would also like to see this. Send me an e mail with a pic.
The idea in theory sounds pretty good though.
I have had Clear Lake fish ruin a spinnerbait. As a matter of fact I have ruined more spinnerbaits on Clear Lake than anywhere else.

Can I get pics also and I'm a little slow  so can I also get a step by step diagram Please

I just got back from Anglers and between the BBZ-1 I had to replace from braking off on the 4th casted at the wood friday and the chatter baits I picked up there went 103.96 in about 7 mins

I'll try to send you what I can.
Basically, you take an old spinnerbait, cut off all but about and inch of the wire above the lure body, use a pair of needle nose pliars (round jawed wire bending pliars make a smoother loop) to wrap the wire into a loop at the head of the lure, and then turn the wired back over itself like the cross lock snap that attaches the blade to the line . Then cut off the extra wire. You try to make the loop line up so that the blade, or split ring, if you use one, is oriented to keep the blade at the right angle. A spit ring seems to make the blade vibrate more. Use needle nose pliars to tweak the loop until the blade is right, like tuning a crank. It's not rocket science, or I couldn't do it.

Ron, that's great.
I actually had my eleven year old helping me last night on the computer. When she goes to college, I'm doomed!

Kirk,
The head was like that. I bought a bunch of blades at Cachuma one year for a couple of bucks each, and a bunch more at the BassAThon a few years back. The blades worked, but the light wire didn't hold up to too many fish before it got too soft to tune.
I got blades and lure tape die cut to the blade shape from www.barlowstackle.com . John Barron turned me onto that site a few years ago, and now it's my go-to for lots of lure stuff, including vinyl clear coat for crank repair.
